Oman Re is the first reinsurance company to be established in Oman with the purpose of writing Facultative and Treaty business from local and international markets. Incorporated in August 2008 a paid-up capital of OMR 5 Million (USD 13 Million), we have grown consistently year-on-year in written premium, while expanding our presence across key markets in Middle East, Africa, Asia, CEE and CIS countries.
Since 2017, Oman Re has pursued an ambitious program of transformation, expansion and growth, with a renewed focus on delivering value to clients, employees, and the communities in which it operates.
In August 2021, we launched our branch at the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC). Our IPO later that year is a key milestone in our journey of success.
Oman Reinsurance Company SAOG (Oman Re) was registered on 4 August 2008 with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Investment Promotion, in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law and the Oman Insurance Companies Law of the Sultanate of Oman. The Company’s commercial registration number is 1052000.
Oman Re obtained a license to operate reinsurance business on 2 July 2009 from the Capital Market Authority (CMA) and is principally engaged in underwriting reinsurance business including fire, engineering, accident, medical, motor and aviation classes. The company’s head office is located at Al Khuwair, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
On 18 November 2020, Oman Re’s first overseas branch was registered at the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) bearing registration number 01134 after obtaining necessary legal and regulatory approvals. The QFC Branch was licensed to commence operations from 22 August 2021 and is located at Umm Ghuwailina, Doha, Qatar.
Since 2 November 2021, Oman Re is listed on the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) and the Company’s paid-up capital currently stands at OMR 32,615,926 (USD 84,718,009).
